Working with meat has been a family passion and tradition of ours as we have always processed our own meats after big family hunting trips together. Making my own biltong initially started as a hobby about 8 years ago and eventually turned into a regular snack at all of our weekend get-togethers. My family and friends soon couldn't live without it and they're still my biggest fans.
I began working at the Karkloof Farmer's Market every Saturday and very quickly saw the potential there was in creating a successful small business. In 2014, together with Amy, we decided it was time to turn our little meat adventure into a full-time business and Big on Biltong was born. With this new vision in mind we gave our brand a bit of a face lift, and with some added hard work, we now supply retail and wholesale stores across KwaZulu-Natal and we pride ourselves in only using the finest A-Grade beef.
